Danny Alexander heads top HMI conference line-up

Chief secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander is to provide the keynote speech at this year's Housing Market Intelligence conference and annual report launch, which will be held at London's British Museum on Wednesday October 9.<br> <br> With the Treasury at the forefront of new mortgage initiatives to stimulate the new homes industry, the chief secretary's views on their progress and the government's view on the importance of housebuilding to the economy should make for fascinating listening.<br> <br> In addition, three top chief executives will be speaking at the conference – Stephen Stone of Crest Nicholson, who has overseen the firm's re-flotation this year; Mark Elliott, the new man at the helm of McCarthy &amp; Stone; and new Homes and Communities Agency boss Andy Rose.<br> <br> The Housing Market Intelligence conference, which is ten years old this year, will be chaired by NHBC ceo Mike Quinton and the strong line-up will also include Sunday Times economics editor David Smith and Jefferies International analyst Anthony Codling.<br> <br> From the HBF, executive chairman Stewart Baseley and director of economics John Stewart will give their expert insight into the industry, while head of planning Andrew Whitaker will chair a specialist panel discussing planning …
