Senior housebuilding figures have welcomed the appointment of Jennie Daly as ceo of Taylor Wimpey, the first female ceo of a major housebuilder.
Stewart Baseley, executive chairman of HBF, said: "We welcome Jennie’s appointment as chief executive of Taylor Wimpey. Jennie has considerable and wide experience of the industry and of the company. Furthermore, Jennie is a role model for others in the industry at a time when housebuilding is becoming a career of choice for more and more women and her appointment will provide further encouragement to them and their successors."
Former Crest Nicholson boss Stephen Stone, who is a non-executive director at Ilke Homes, Orbit Group, NHBC and HBF, said : "Jennie Daly has great experience in the industry particularly in land and planning and environment which are the core skills needed to navigate the challenges the sector faces today.”
And Steve Morgan, founder of Redrow and Daly's boss when she was at the firm, said: “I am a big fan of Jennie; I think she is excellent and there is no one more dedicated to the job on the planet."
