Customer identity verification scheme gains momentum as legislation progresses

<p>Following the launch of new customer identity verification standards for housebuilders, the digital identity clauses of the Data Protection and Digital Information (No 2) Bill have also reached a key point, passing Committee Stage in the House of Commons.</p> <p>As the Bill, containing requirements for consumer digital identity checks, progresses towards gaining Royal Assent, housebuilders have been implementing the customer identity verification standards under the new MyIdentity scheme. The Home Builders Federation has established the scheme in partnership with digital data management solutions company Etive Technologies. </p> <p>Under the new scheme, customers will only need to prove their identity once during the home buying process. It also aims to help housebuilders comply with emerging digital identity legislation and standards. </p> <p>Etive has developed standards according to feedback from HBF members and building on guidance from the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology.</p> <p><a href="http://www.house-builder.co.uk/news/hbf-and-etive-launch-new-customer-identity-verification-standards">Since the launch of the standards in March</a>, Etive has been conversing with panel conveyancers and brokers who regularly work with HBF members.
