Customer identity standards adds Unique Property Reference Number

<p>A range of housebuilders have been implementing the new customer identity verification (IDV) and anti-laundering (AML) standards from the Home Builders Federation and Etive, with a Unique Property Reference Number now added to the scheme to “better meet the specific customer service and business needs of new home builders”. </p> <p>Following <a href="http://www.house-builder.co.uk/news/hbf-and-etive-launch-new-customer-identity-verification-standards">the launch in March of new customer verification standards</a> - which mean customers will only need to prove their identity once in the home buying process - the Unique Property Reference Number (UPRN) is one of a number of additional rules that the MyIdentity Overlay Scheme has developed, building on those already in the DIATF (Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework).</p> <p>The UPRN is a unique identifier for each property in the country, providing a more secure and streamlined sales process when a certified customer’s identity is linked to it. According to HBF and MyIdentity, “many mortgage lenders” require a UPRN to provide a mortgage.</p> <p>And housebuilders can use the UPRN to link services, including utilities and other data like energy performance certificates, to properties.</p> <p>The organisations also explained that the UPRN would aid with conveyancing properties, as various mortgage lenders could use it to “facilitate the mortgage …
