Copthorn scheme excels in Housing Design Awards

Abode in Harlow, built by Copthorn Homes to a design by Proctor & Matthews, is the overall winner of this year's Housing Design Awards. Berkeley's Brewery Square in London (design: Hamilton Associates) was voted the best development by a volume housebuilder and Geddis Developments with Twentytwo Over Seven took the best development by a small housebuilder award for Stockbridge Lane in Donaghadee in N Ireland. The revamped awards - backed by the ODPM, NHBC, RIBA and RTPI - were announced by housing minster Keith Hill at Housebuilding 2004, the industry's new two day event at the Business Design Centre in Islington.
