<p>Cala Group has launched a Community Pledge initiative, its “biggest ever commitment” to UK communities, according to the housebuilder.</p><p>Under this major scheme, Cala will create bespoke programmes of activity for each of its developments. These are set to have a “positive, measurable impact on thousands of people” and will be rolled out this year, the company said.</p><p>Cala explained that every Pledge would be developed by its teams and created in dialogie with each local community, with measures imbedded into each Pledge to address specific community needs. This would include donations, volunteering, learning programmes and support initiatives. Cala also said that its actions were “going above and beyond any planning obligations”. </p><p>Cala said the initiative would reflect its core values, including sustainability, community enrichment, wellbeing, inclusion and diversity, with these translated into community action. The Community Pledge will form a key strand of the company’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) commitments, with its results audited and reported on “in a more robust way than ever before, to demonstrate genuine impact”. </p><p>The housebuilder’s Pledges will include its new schools initiative, <a href="http://www.cala.co.uk/social-value/community-pledge/land-to-life">Land to Life</a>, and <a href="http://www.cala.co.uk/social-value/community-pledge/showhome-of-support">Showhome of Support,</a> which supports local talent and businesses.
