Bungalows are best for happiness

A survey for the household insurer Halifax General has shown that people who live in bungalows are the happiest. The Social Issues Research Centre, who conducted the survey for the insurance firm, asked 2,000 adults to define a happy home and rate their home out on ten on the “happiness” scale. Of those questioned 80% gave their homes seven or more out of ten, but bungalows scored an average of 8.15. The survey found that the most contented were those with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a small bathroom and no stairs. Those over 50 reported the highest levels of happiness with social class having little effect. The happiest home owners can be found in the Midlands where 31% gave their homes ten out of ten. The North West had the lowest score with only 12% “ very happy” with their homes.
