Building Regulations transitional period ends

<p>The 12-month transitional period for Building Regulations Part F, (Ventilation), L (Conservation of fuel and power), O (Overheating) and S (Infrastructure for the charging of electric vehicles) ends today (June 15).</p> <p>The revised regulations will then apply, including Part L’s 31% reduction in carbon emissions for new homes against Part L 2013. This is a stepping stone to the Future Homes Standard from 2025, which will see new homes having to achieve a 75-80% reduction in emissions.</p> <p>On June 15 2022, the new Building Regulations as above were introduced, with a 12-month grace period applying to sites if an initial notice was given to, or full plans deposited with, a local authority before June 15 last year. But the building work needed to have commenced before June 15 2023.</p> <p>Rob Norton, UK director of PlanRadar, said: <span>“</span><span>Given that Part L is a litmus test for the entire Future Homes standard package, ahead of scores of other fast-approaching codes, those that haven’t already got their house in order with correct documentation and auditing must respond quickly. </span></p> <p><span>“Easy to retrieve, relevant onsite evidence will be essential for milestone checks and as-built EPC (energy performance certificates) assessments.”</span></p> <p><span>Also commenting on the Part …
