<p>Following a government-instigated roundtable discussion on the Building Regulations, including representatives from the HBF, NHBC and DCLG, stakeholders have agreed on the need for a new streamlined approach to the regulatory system. Angela Smith, under secretary of state for Building Regulations, said: “I am confident this kind of event will help our collaborative approach and if we can include that on a ministerial level I think it will be worthwhile.”</p> <p>HBF director of external affairs John Slaughter said: “There was general agreement that there should be a continued effort to simplify the regulations and put in place a long-term framework so we have more certainty about the future.”He added: “There is a commitment within government to take the discussion further.”</p><b> <p>NEXT KEY DATE: Dates for future discussions are yet to be decided</p></b>
