Budget boost for shared equity

Chancellor Gordon Brown has this year delivered a Budget of few surprises for housebuilders. The key proposals set to impact on the industry are a rise in the stamp duty tax threshold, increased funding for shared equity schemes, and a relaxation of the rules governing real estate investment trusts (REITs).
