Brownfield land stocks for a million homes

<br>Just under one million new homes could potentially be accommodated on England’s existing stocks of brownfield land, according to latest figures published by the National Land Use Database. The statistics suggest that 29,000ha, out of a total of 66,000ha of brownfield land could be made available for housing, with the potential number of homes standing at 950,000 – up 7% on three years ago, as a result of increasing development densities. An estimated 12,000ha of brownfield land is available for housing in the south east and east, based on the survey.
