Brown, Blunkett and Clarke to headline Sustainable Communities Summit in 2005

<br>John Prescott has called in fellow government big guns to headline the ODPM's Sustainable Communities Summit, which is being held in Manchester on January 31 to February 2, 2005. Chancellor Gordon Brown will be attending, along with home secretary David Blunkett and secretary of state for education and skills, Charles Clarke. <p></p><p>The international summit, which is expected to attract more than 2,000 delegates, is intended to be an opportunity for stakeholders in the government's housing and regeneration targets to "take stock" of progress. Workshop sessions will be run on topics ranging from creating successful partnerships to transport, health, and skills.</p><p>"Only government as a whole can tackle issues involved with creating sustainable communities, such as improving local services, economic prosperity, the environment and the quality of people's lives," said the bolstered deputy prime minister.</p>
