<p><span>A “record” 45% of local authorities are now including Build to Rent homes in their local plans, according to the British Property Federation (BPF).</span></p> <p><span>This is up from 37% of councils last year and comparing to 25% in 2018, BPF’s analysis shows. The data, in collaboration with Savills and covering Q2 2022, also reveals that the number of BTR home completions rose 16% against Q2 2021 to 73,739. Units under construction increased 13% to 47,764, with units in planning up 10% to 115,859.</span></p> <p><span>BPF said this growth in BTR was expanding across the UK. Regional cities experienced a 16% year-on-year increase in the total number of BTR homes completed or in the pipeline. London’s growth rate was half of this at 8%.</span></p> <p><span>BPF also said the research reflected the evolution of the BTR offering. Single family BTR - involving smaller schemes in suburban locations – saw a 44% annual increase in units in the pipeline to 21,000; the fastest growing sub-sector of the tenure during the period.</span></p> <p><span>Ian Fletcher, BPF’s director of real estate policy, said: </span><span>“Our analysis for the second quarter of the year further underlines just how rapidly the UK Build to Rent sector is expanding.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>“We can …
