Berkeley founder Tony Pidgley dies

<p> </p><p><span>Tony Pidgley CBE, Berkeley Group’s founder and chairman, has died suddenly, the housebuilder has announced.</span></p><p><span>In a note to colleagues, Berkeley’s chief executive Rob Perrins said: “It is with the greatest sadness that I have to inform you of the sudden death of Tony Pidgley.</span></p><p><span>“Tony suffered a catastrophic brain haemorrhage yesterday evening and died peacefully today.</span></p><p><span>“On behalf of everyone at Berkeley, I have extended our deepest sympathies to Sarah and the children.</span><span><br/></span></p><p><span><span>“I know this will come as an awful shock to you all and it is important that we support one another in this difficult time and ensure that by our actions and behaviour we continue Tony's legacy.</span></span></p><p><span><span>“He shaped our culture, our values and Berkeley's unique long term business model which underpins our success. His vision, passion and philosophy are deep within Berkeley's DNA. Tony knew he would never retire and he prepared the company for this sad day.
