<p><span>Berkeley has appointed Michael Dobson as its next chairman.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>Dobson, who recently stepped down as chairman of global investment manager Schroders after six years, will become non-executive chairman of the housebuilder and chairman of its Nomination Committee following its AGM on September 6,.</span></p> <p><span>Before this, he joins the board and the Nomination Committee as an independent non-executive director.</span></p><p><span>Glyn Barker, who has been Berkeley’s chairman since </span><a href="http://www.house-builder.co.uk/news/glyn-barker-becomes-berkeley-chairman">July 2020</a><span> following the </span><a href="https://www.house-builder.co.uk/news/industry-tributes-pour-tony-pidgley">death of founder and previous chairman Tony Pidgley</a>,<span> will leave the board upon the AGM. He was appointed for up to a two-year period while the board undertook its search for a permanent replacement.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>According to Berkeley, Dobson boasts extensive leadership, corporate and financial experience. Besides Schroders he has held leadership roles at Deutsche Bank and Morgan Grenfell.
