Bellway looks to increase building in the south

<p>Bellway is to increase building in the regions where demand is strongest as its stocks reduce and reservations hold up at 105 per week. </p> <br><p>The firms says that its southern regions are marginally stronger than the north and that turnover will be "much higher" in the south by the year end. Markets in the Midlands, Yorkshire and the North West are "fragile", the firm reports. </p> <br><p>Bellway also announced that it is to focus on buying land suitable for traditional two storey housing and that it reservations are being secured through the use of incentives, but these are not increasing as a percentage of selling price giving the firm some price stability.</p> <br><p>Stock has reduced from 1000 at the end of January to 660 in May but the firm warns that first time buyers are still struggling to get mortages and cancellations are still at historically high levels.</p>
