Basildon Council approves Eastgate Shopping Centre regeneration

<p>Basildon Council has granted outline planning permission for the redevelopment of Eastgate Shopping Centre and the surrounding area, featuring multi-tenure housing.</p> <p><span>InfraRed Capital Partners, owner of Eastgate Shopping Centre, plans to provide up to 2,800 new homes, including build to rent, open market sale, student accommodation, housing for later living and co-living. </span></p><p></p> <p><span>Under the plans, improvements will be made to the retail space as well as to car parking and public transport links – including a new bus station. There will also feature improved walkways and added green and outdoor spaces.</span></p><p></p> <p><span>The surrounding area of the shopping centre includes the existing car park and shopping arcade to the north of Basildon bus station, Kelting House, the Asda supermarket, petrol station and car park.</span></p><p></p>
