Barratt to restart sites from May 11

<p><span>Barratt will return to site work from May 11, reopening around half of its sites, it said today (May 1).</span><span></span></p> <p><span>Returning to site later than some of its peers, the volume housebuilder said it had developed “a detailed set of working practices and protocols” including a Social Distancing Marshal who will oversee all reopened sites, and changes to signage, site welfare facilities and site access.</span></p> <p><span>The firm added that it had successfully piloted its measures, in line with guidance including from the Construction Leadership Council (CLC), on one of its sites.</span></p> <p><span>“Work on our construction </span><span>sites will recommence from 11 May, initially to implement the changes required under our new working practices and protocols,” it stated. “We will then</span><span> start a phased return to construction, with 180 sites – around 50% of the total - in the first phase.”</span></p> <p><span>It does not yet plan to restart its Scottish sites, with all but essential construction work remaining banned in Scotland.</span></p> <p><span>The site restarts mean that much of Barratt’s workforce can return to work this month, it said.
