Barratt Redrow named one of TIME’s most sustainable companies

Barratt Redrow has been named in TIME magazine’s World’s 500 Most Sustainable Companies for 2025, reportedly the only UK-based housebuilder to feature on the list.

The housebuilder joins 31 other UK companies, joining a “select group of companies across the globe”, it said. Its inclusion reflects industry-leading commitment to sustainable building “and setting the benchmark on sustainability performance, transparency and innovation”.

Barratt Redrow made the list after TIME and its research partner, Statista, used a transparent, multi-stage methodology to identify the world’s most sustainable companies. This began with a pool of more than 5,000 of the world’s largest and most influential companies.

A rigorous four-stage assessment considered factors including external sustainability ratings and commitments, corporate reporting practices and environmental and social performance indicators. This produced a ranking of 500 companies from more than 30 countries.

Before its merger with Redrow last year, Barratt Developments was, the company said, the first major housebuilder to set science-based emission reduction targets. It is a signatory of the UN Global Compact, demonstrating, it explained, its ongoing commitments to its ten principles for corporate sustainability.

Barratt Developments was also ranked the highest national housebuilder in the NextGeneration sustainability benchmark last year. …
