Barratt keeps numberone housebuilder slot

Barratt has maintained its position as Britain's biggest housebuilder in this year’s Top 75 list revealed exclusively in the new Housing Market Intelligence report and Housebuilder.<br> <br> <br> Although Barratt's turnover in the period analysed dropped slightly to £2 billion, it still stands significantly ahead of the number two firm, Taylor Wimpey, which achieved turnover of £1.74 billion.<br> <br> <br> The Top 75 ranks the housebuilders by seven criteria and the 2011 table records the results for year ending 2010. In that period Barratt was the only housebuilder to build more than 10,000 homes, at 11,377, as TaylorWimpey slipped down to 9,962.<br> <br> <br> The top six housebuilders in 2011 were the same as last year, with Persimmon third followed by Bellway, Berkeley and Galliford Try. The big mover is in seventh place where Redrow, under returning chairman Steve Morgan, moved up from 13th place with turnover of £397 million up from £302 million – that turnover increase is set to continue this year.<br> <br> <br> Two of last year's Top 50 have gone under in the year – John Laing Partnership and McInerney – but the overall picture to be taken from the table is that housebuilders are in …
