Barratt remains Britain's biggest housebuilder according to the latest list published this month in the Housing Market Intelligence Report.<br> <br> The Top 75 list is based on accounts filed during 2011. Although Barratt's housing turnover for the period measured slipped slightly to £1.986 billion from £2 billion last time, it remained ahead of second-placed Taylor Wimpey's £1.779 billion and Persimmon's £1.535 billion in third place.<br> <br> The top six builders stayed in the same order, Bellway, Berkeley and Galliford Try filling the next three slots. All three increased turnover significantly in the period, Bellway by 15% to £886 million, Berkeley by 21% to £743 million and Galliford Try by 25% to £512 million. <br> <br> Bovis and Crest have both increased turnover sufficiently to move into the top ten this year at 9th and 10th respectively. Miller and Bloor slip out.<br> <br> Housing Market Intelligence Report editor Brian Green said of the table: "If 2009 was about survival and setting in train restructuring and 2010 was about restoring stability, then 2011 was certainly the year of consolidating and rebuilding profitability."
