Barratt enters jv for large sites master development

Barratt Developments had joined forces with Homes England and Lloyds Banking Group to create MADE Partnership, concentrating on the master development of large sites to potentially deliver thousands of new homes.

The joint venture will, the organisations said, act as master developer for multiple residential-led, large schemes from 1,000 to more than 10,000 homes across England which will also feature community facilities and employment uses.

Development opportunities for MADE Partnership include large brownfield developments and new garden village communities, with major and SME housebuilders given the chance to “build the new homes and communities the country needs”.

The long-term partnership will initially be supported by combined equity funding of up to £150 million which will be provided equally by the partners. It brings together the skills, expertise and long-term approach needed, "with the ability to unlock and scale the capital required to bring larger sites into production”. Lloyds Banking Group, the partnership said, is one of the largest funders of the UK housing sector.

A master developer oversees and manages the development of large-scale projects and is responsible for the overall vision and strategy. It co-ordinates the wide range of stakeholders involved in the scheme.
