Angela Rayner becomes shadow levelling up secretary

<p>The Labour party’s deputy leader Angela Rayner has become the new shadow levelling up secretary.</p> <p>In a cabinet reshuffle that Labour leader Keir Starmer is currently undertaking, Rayner has taken over the levelling up post from Lisa Nandy. Nandy was appointed to the position in November 2021 and has now been named shadow international development minister.</p> <p>The high-profile Rayner, also now appointed shadow deputy prime minister under the reshuffle, joined the Labour party in 2015. She is MP for Ashton-under-Lyne and has been Labour’s deputy leader since April 2020. </p> <p>Rayner has been shadow minister for the cabinet office and chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster. Previous posts include shadow education secretary, shadow women and equalities minister and shadow work and pensions minister.</p>
