<b><b>Jeremy Gates talks to Peter Askew, managing director of Pegasus Retirement Homes, about the restructuring of the company and its future plans </b></b><br><b><b></b> According to Peter Askew success in the industry is much more about timing than most people recognise. </b><br><b>&amp;"A few of us were talking the other day about the perfect housebuilder in 2001,&amp;" he recalls. &amp;"We decided it was probably the Lovell Homes model of the late 80s - perfect for PFI, a sector leader in partnerships with housing associations, a pioneer on brown field and specialist in city centre waterfront homes for young professionals.</b><br><b> &amp;"Marvellous - but it was Lovell's bad luck to be about ten years ahead of its time. I think Mike McCarthy, who used to run Pegasus, might be ahead of his time too. The puzzle right now is how to keep technology in its place.&amp;" </b><br><b>Askew, whose CV includes executive posts at Bowater, Newman Tonks and Williams Holdings, was a key member of the team which rescued McCarthy &amp;&amp; Stone in the early 90s and created one of the most highly-regarded operations in the construction sector.</b><br><b> Heading the south eastern division, Askew was in the engine room of the revival.
