A lack of BIM

Many housebuilders are missing a "money saving opportunity" by not investing in Building Information Modelling (BIM), according to a new report from the NHBC Foundation.<br> <br> The report, Building Information Modelling - an introduction for housebuilders, shows that 89% of the 18 major housebuilders who NHBC surveyed had not heard of BIM or had no plans to use it.<br> <br> BIM is a way of managing the information produced during the lifetime of a construction project. The BIM process manages documents and data and can produce 3D models of images or objects with "pinpointed" information such as performance data and materials details. The use of models can increase efficiency and reduce errors, NHBC said.<br> <br> But the report found that only 11% of the housebuilders surveyed currently use BIM.
