WIENERBERGER PAVES THE WAY FOR THE NEXT GENERATION OF BRICKLAYERS AT SKILLBUILD 2011

Wienerberger, the world's largest producer of bricks, has donated over 33,000 stock and wirecut bricks in a range of complementary and contrasting colours to this year's Skillbuild competition. The largest multi-trade competition in the UK for construction trainees and apprentices, Skillbuild covers a wide range of crafts including bricklaying, cabinet making, carpentry, dry walling systems, joinery, painting and decorating, plastering, roofing, stone masonry and wall and floor tiling.

Simon Pearson, Wienerberger's director of sales, brick, said such support was an essential part of the company's commitment to the industry. He added " The Skillbuild competition is a fantastic opportunity for trainees and apprentices to showcase their talent and bricklaying abilities. It is vital that we invest in training the next generation of bricklayers whose skills will be so important for the future success of the industry"

Wienerberger has also provided support for the Guild of Bricklayers 2011 annual student showcase with the donation of 59,000 bricks to both the competition heats and finals this summer
