Building the home of their dreams was a breeze for the Burdon family after they used the Kingspan TEK® Building System to form the walls and barrel roof of their new Dutch barn styled house. Clad in featheredged boarding, the New House was designed in collaboration with Chartered Surveyor Malcolm Hutchings and includes four upstairs bedrooms and traditional features such as a wood burning stove.
To realise these plans the owners wanted a building solution which was straightforward to construct and would keep running costs low. This led to the selection of the Kingspan TEK® Building System, as Kim Burdon explained: “Before settling on the final design we spent several months collecting information on new build methods from magazines and trade shows. Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs) really floated to the top because of the ease of build combined with excellent thermal performance.”
