Self Build Heroes is a special kind of construction company with two important aims. First, they offer over 50 years of combined experience in all areas of construction to help make clients’ dream homes a reality. Second, they support veterans leaving military service by providing educational pathways and skills training to succeed in the construction sector.
At Self Build Heroes’ latest project in Marlborough, Wiltshire, the roofs and the building envelopes of 5 starter homes were fitted with high-performing membranes from the A. Proctor Group.
The specification for the single 5-bed detached home focused on airtightness to enhance thermal performance. A. Proctor Group’s Wraptite® membrane, the only BBA certified self-adhering vapour permeable air barrier, was installed on the both the exterior walls and roof of the house to provide this airtightness.
Conversely, the cold pitched roof spec on the 4 terraced starter homes embraced the air- and vapour-permeability of Roofshield® to provide, not only class-leading protection, but also cost-savings as no ventilation accessories or internal vapour control layer were required.
Regarding membrane selection, the Founder of Self Build Heroes, Matthew Burrows commented: “We worked with the technical team at A. Proctor Group to create a high-performance specification for both types of properties. We have always been completely satisfied with the performance of Roofshield and can confidently recommend it. Having researched the qualities and properties of Wraptite airtight membrane, we were assured of its high-performance and expect it will enhance the thermal performance and energy savings for the property.”
