Housebuilders continue steady performance

12th Nov 2012

Housebuilders are continuing to make steady progress, according to trading updates released today (November 12).
Taylor Wimpey, reporting on the period from July 2 to today, said that housing market conditions had remained stable. The company’s sales rates in the second half of 2012 were similar to those achieved in 2011, with its order book for future completions totalling £1.11 billion against £1.02 last year.  It has completed 467 net reservations under the NewBuy scheme and its Scottish equivalent MI New Home to date
Over the first 19 weeks of the current financial year, Redrow’s reservations climbed 22% against the equivalent period last year, driven by an increase in outlets from 72 to 83 on average. Sales increased to 0.58 per week, against 2011’s 0.55. The housebuilder’s average price of private reservations to date rose 22% to £243,000, with London included.
Bovis said it had secured enough reservations to achieve its anticipated full year legal completions. Over the 45 weeks to November 9, the firm achieved 1,669 net private reservations against last year’s 1,517. As of this date, it expected to legally complete around 2,350 homes during 2012.
