Rt Hon Brandon Lewis CBE MP

The Rt Honourable Brandon Lewis CBE MP has been the Member of Parliament for Great Yarmouth in Norfolk since 2010.

Over the course of a decade in Government, Brandon held many positions including two in Cabinet. As Lord Chancellor he was involved in the Accession Ceremony for King Charles III, brought about a swift resolution to the barristers’ strike, opened discussions for a legal services agreement with India, and rolled out more tagging for prison leavers. Prior to that, he spent two and a half years as Northern Ireland Secretary, dealing with issues around the Northern Ireland Protocol, power-sharing at Stormont, and introduced legislation to address the legacy of the Troubles. He also delivered equal access to healthcare for women in Northern Ireland.

As Security Minister at the Home Office, Brandon had responsibility for national security and also deputised Brexit preparations. During his time as Conservative Party Chairman, he oversaw a record growth in membership and fundraising, while also delivering a programme of modernisation and centralisation of the Party. Prior to that he served as Housing Minister, and Minister for Policing and the Fire Service.

Brandon is a qualified barrister and has a BSc in Economics and LLB Hons (Law) from the University of Buckingham, and an LLM in Commercial Law from King’s College, London. Married with two children, he relaxes in his limited free time by enjoying a variety of sports, especially cycling and running, and also enjoys reading, spending time with his dog and travelling. Always ready to take on a personal challenge, he has twice run the London Marathon, and also has enjoyed triathlon since 2011. During the pandemic, Brandon completed a Castle Series virtual half ironman event (21.1km run, 90km bike, 10km run), and raised almost £20,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
