Ben Linscott

Having worked at senior levels in local government and in private practice, Ben Linscott , a chartered town planner, joined the Planning Inspectorate as an Inspector in October 1996. He has since held posts in managing the Built Environment and Quality, Policy and Training Groups. As Group Manager (Planning), he now oversees the planning appeals service, training, managing and providing professional support to Inspectors conducting that casework, as well as development plans examinations, and leads on various Inspector specialist areas. He works very closely with the Group Manager (Development Plans), has been particularly closely involved in the reform of the Appeals system, and in seeking to promulgate best practice both within the Inspectorate and amongst its stakeholders. He has been the Acting Chief Planning Inspector since April 2014.
